MJ, a proud Filipina-Kiwi, completed her Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Oral Health Therapy in Auckland University of Technology (AUT). While studying at AUT, MJ also gained valuable hands-on experience as a dental receptionist and assistant at Family Dentist Pakuranga, and during her university placements in Tauranga, New Zealand, she developed a deep commitment to oral health, especially in high-risk communities.

Since graduation MJ has worked in Australia, within the rural and coastal communities of The Northern Rivers Territory where she has served geriatric, paediatric and high-risk periodontal patients. MJ is excited to be heading home to Aotearoa and back to Family Dentist Pakuranga to share her new learnings from her extremely valuable stint in Australia.

MJ’s clinical interests lie in periodontology, where she focuses on a holistic approach to patient management and treatments. She is passionate about empowering her patients with knowledge and tools to improve and maintain their oral health. MJ has also been praised for her kind, understanding and authentic approach to building impactful connections with her patients. She loves a good laugh and banter as much as she loves great oral hygiene.
